Conchiolinum

(Mother of Pearl)

There is not a lot of information about this remedy in the medicas and I can find record of no useful provings to glean a picture of symptoms from. I mention Conchiolinum here because it does have a wide range of action in disorders of the bones, especially when growth plates at the ends of bones are involved. Calcarea and Calcarea phosphorica are its closest symptomatic relatives.

BONES: Inflammation and swelling at the ends of bones with intense pain coming on suddenly and then becoming intermittent. The swollen areas are very painful to the slightest touch or pressure. Bones most often affected are the lower jaw, scapula, humerus, radius, ulna, tibia, fibula, tarsal, and metatarsal bones (jaw, shoulders, legs, and feet). Thirst, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, dark colored urine with sediment accompany the bone pain.

RESPIRATORY: Symptoms of mucous and inflammation of the respiratory organs.

MENTAL/EMOTIONAL: Suffering from long held and very deep emotions and emotional scars; feels a loss of connection to others; enormous pride; need for perfection and absolute purity in everything; inflexible; rigid.
