Profound effects on the mind, brain, and nervous system; profoundly disturbed, as though the mind is overcome by diabolical forces; mania; quarrelsome; sometimes obscene; muttering delirium, hallucinations and delusions; lightness and confusion of head; sensations as if heart and chest were torn up; heart’s action becomes violent, tremulous, irregular; carotids beat violently; muscle twitches; toothaches.
(ADHD and Learning and Behavioral Disorders) This is one of the most important remedies in childhood behavioral problems. These children may be clinging to a parent one moment and doing silly annoying things the next moment. There is poor control over impulses. The child wants it now and may throw a tantrum if he doesn’t get his way. There may be violence toward other children, and eventually towards the parent of the opposite sex. In most cases there is an early sexual awareness and precocious behavior. There may also be cursing or lewd talk.
If Hyoscyamus seems to be indicated this might be one of the few times you would consider giving the 50M remedy more than once. Indication for this would be good progress during the regimen but some returning problems 5 or 6 months after the 50M remedy was given. The 50M may be given 3—4 times at 6 month intervals, if needed. During the intervening months it may be necessary for someone to help the child develop new habits. Some of the negative behaviors have become just that, habits, and are no longer part of the underlying emotional or mental problem. These behaviors need to be dealt with as simple bad behavior.
KEYNOTES: Nervous agitation; tremulous weakness and twitching of tendons; inclined to laugh at everything; very suspicious; dry, spasmodic cough at night; involuntary urination.
SANKARAN MENTALS: The mentals of this remedy center around business concerns. Sudden intense threat of someone’s rage or violence, with a great desire to reach or achieve a position of safety.
