Opium

Opium is indicated for those conditions that would mimic an overdose of actual opium. These symptoms are much like a fully developed stroke. Opium is useful in ailments characterized by stupor; painlessness where there should be pain; heavy, deep sleep; labored breathing; useful for drug overdose; fright; stroke or injury; loss of consciousness; great weight of pain in back of head; head feels as if it would burst.
Opium has a “swing” side which is extreme excitability—more so even than Nux vomica. This effect could be produced by overdose of the homeopathic and is occasionally the indication for the need of this remedy. Rarely needed, but extremely effective when well indicated - and nothing else is likely to work anywhere near as well. Mentioned for the final stages of suffering from cancer.
(Polio)The paralysis of Opium is almost painless. There will be deep sleep with heavy, stertorous breathing. Preceding and accompanying the paralysis will be involuntary twitching and jerking of limbs. There is unusual perspiration over the upper body and obstinate constipation.
KEYNOTE: Palpitations after a stressful event; hot perspiration over whole body; involuntary stools after a fright; stertorous breathing; deep snoring with rattling.
SANKARAN MENTALS: Must maintain control even in situations of pain and violence, such as war.
